Frequently asked questions
- How accurate are these numbers?
- Within a few percent for a simple single-filer with no dependants, deductions or allowances. For a real number, use your country's official payroll calculator or a payroll provider.
- Why don't you support all countries?
- Tax codes are huge and change every year. We've curated six of the most common (US-federal, UK-England, Germany, France, Canada-federal, Australia) using their 2026 brackets. Send us a pull request to add more.
- Are state/provincial taxes included?
- No — federal/national only. Add your state or provincial rate yourself, or use your local government's calculator for the full picture.
- Are my numbers uploaded?
- No — every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is logged.
- What's the 'social/payroll' rate?
- A blended approximation of the social-security contributions paid by the employee in each country (e.g. ~7.65% in the US for FICA, ~20% in Germany for the employee share). Real rates depend on your status.
