Frequently asked questions
- What's the difference between a quote and an invoice?
- A quote is a price offer before the work is done — it's not a request for payment. An invoice is the actual bill issued after delivery. The two documents share most fields but a quote uses 'Valid until' instead of 'Due date'.
- Is this quote generator free?
- Yes — fully free, no signup, no watermark.
- Can I add my logo to the quote?
- Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP under 512 KB. The logo is saved with your business profile in localStorage and appears at the top of every quote and invoice you generate on this device.
- Where is my data stored?
- On your device only. Your business profile (including logo) is in localStorage at tb4f.business.profile; the quote itself stays in the page until you save it as PDF or close the tab.
- Does the quote number auto-increment?
- Yes. New quotes start from QTE-2026-1001 and increment locally via the counter at tb4f.business.quote-seq. Re-using or rewinding a number is a one-line edit in the form.
- Can I add a 'Valid until' or expiry date?
- Yes — that's the second date field. Default is 30 days from the issue date and the printed quote labels it 'Valid until'.
- Can I show payment terms separately from notes?
- Yes. There are two fields at the bottom: 'Payment terms' (legal/billing language) and 'Notes' (anything you want to say). They print as two distinct labelled blocks.
- Can I add a discount or VAT?
- Yes. Set a percentage discount on the whole quote, and toggle VAT on or off — including a per-line tickbox so out-of-scope items are excluded from the VAT base.
- Can I bill in any currency?
- Yes — any ISO-4217 currency code (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, INR, AUD, CAD…). Amounts re-format with the right symbol and locale.
- Can I copy the quote as plain text?
- Yes — 'Copy as plain text' puts a clean ASCII version of the quote on your clipboard, ready to paste into an email body alongside the PDF.
