This converter uses static reference rates refreshed quarterly, which is a deliberate design choice, not a limitation to work around. It answers the everyday "roughly how much is that in my currency?" question without paid API keys or tracking. For major pairs it lands within a few percent, but it is explicitly unsuitable for trading, invoicing, or anything where an exact rate on a specific date is legally meaningful.
Real-world costs also diverge from any mid-market rate because banks and card networks add a spread — often 1–3% — plus fixed fees on top. So even a perfectly live rate would understate what a purchase actually costs you. Use the number here as an estimate and check your provider's rate before committing to a large transfer.
If you need historical or auditable rates, the European Central Bank publishes free daily reference data you can download, and you can run any custom arithmetic on it with the scientific calculator.
