Frequently asked questions
- How do I calculate a 30% discount?
- Enter the original price, type 30 in the discount field, and the tool shows the final price (price × 0.70) and how much you saved.
- What is the price after a discount?
- Final price = original price × (1 − discount/100). For $80 at 25% off, that's $80 × 0.75 = $60.
- How much is the discount in dollars or euros?
- The "You save" line shows the absolute savings in your input currency — i.e. original price minus final price. Copy the result to paste it into an invoice or order note.
- How do I calculate stacked discounts (two discounts)?
- Click "Add another discount" to stack a second percentage. The tool applies them in order: 20% then 20% gives an effective discount of 36%, not 40% — because the second 20% is applied to a smaller price.
- How do I calculate a discount on a VAT-inclusive price?
- Apply the discount to the gross (VAT-inclusive) price; the discounted price is still VAT-inclusive at the same rate. If you need the net amount, paste the discounted price into our VAT calculator and use "Remove VAT".
- What's the difference between a discount and cashback?
- A discount lowers the price you pay at checkout. Cashback is a refund of part of the price after the purchase. The end-of-day cost is similar; only the timing is different.
- How do I model a "2 for 1" deal?
- A "2 for 1" deal means you pay full price for one item and 0 for the other — overall a 50% discount on the bundle. Enter the bundle's full price and 50% to see the per-item average.
- Can I add up multiple items?
- This tool focuses on a single item at a time. For full lists, paste your prices into a spreadsheet, then use the discount % from this tool to compute each line.
- How do I round prices nicely?
- The tool keeps full precision internally and rounds the display to two decimals — the same as most retail systems. Copy the result for an exact paste.
- Can I run a price list quickly?
- Yes — keep the discount fixed and change the original price; the result updates instantly, so you can run through a list of items in seconds.
