Density is a diagnostic, not a target. Modern search engines score relevance with semantic models, not by counting how many times a phrase appears, so chasing a specific percentage — the old "2–3%" folklore — is at best pointless and at worst triggers spam signals. Read the output as a mirror: it shows what your page is actually about, which is often not what you assumed.
The most useful column is frequently the two-word phrase ranking. Single tokens tend to surface generic verbs and connectors, whereas bigrams reveal the real topical themes and any accidental over-repetition of a brand name or filler phrase. If your target query doesn't appear at all, that's a genuine gap worth fixing; if it dominates unnaturally, that's a rewrite cue.
Two caveats shape how you read the numbers. Stop-word filtering here is English-only, so analyzing another language leaves its function words in the ranking. And density counts strings, not meaning — synonyms, plurals and closely related terms are tallied separately even though a reader (and a search engine) treats them as one concept.
