- How is WPM calculated?
- By the standard convention: one 'word' equals five characters, so WPM = (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed. This makes scores comparable across tests regardless of how long the actual words are.
- What's a good typing speed?
- Around 40 WPM is average for adults; 60–70 WPM is solid; 80+ is fast; professional typists often exceed 100. Accuracy matters as much as speed — 95%+ is a good target.
- Does accuracy affect my score?
- Yes — only correct characters count toward WPM, and we show your accuracy percentage separately. Racing ahead with lots of errors lowers your effective speed.
- Which languages can I practice in?
- The word list follows your interface language — English, Dutch, German, French or Spanish — so you practice with words natural to that language. It falls back to English if a set isn't available.
- Can I change the test duration?
- Yes — choose 30, 60 or 120 seconds. Longer tests give a more stable average by smoothing out short bursts of speed.
- Do I need an account or download?

- How can I improve my typing speed?

- Why did my score differ from another typing site?
- Sites use different word difficulty, count errors differently, and some penalise uncorrected mistakes. As long as you use the same test consistently, the trend in your score is what matters.
- Can I restart the test?
- Yes — hit restart any time to reset the timer and get a fresh stream of words.
